Hey Upper East Siders, it’s Gossip Girl here and we’ve got some very exciting news for you. You might want to prepare yourselves because the epic CW show that had us all hooked back when it aired from 2007 to 2012 may be returning for a reboot!
That’s right, CW president Mark Pedowitz just dropped a major hint that Chuck Bass, Blair Waldorf, Serena van der Woodsen, Dan Humphrey and Nate Archibald will be appearing on our screens again! Um, we have been waiting for this moment for over SIX. YEARS. Yep, we’re screaming.
“There’s a discussion, but I don’t know if we’re there yet,” he said on Thursday, January 31, at the Television Critics Association winter press tour after he was asked if the iconic show would ever return. “I don’t know what it would be. A lot is up to Warner Bros. and [exec producers] Josh [Schwartz] and Steph[anie Savage], ’cause you don’t want to do anything without them.”
That’s right folks, you read that right, there’s a DISCUSSION. Spotted: J-14 having a mental breakdown.
As fans of the show know, Gossip Girl starred Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, Chace Crawford, Ed Westwick and Taylor Momsen. The epic series — which was filled with breakups, hookups, fights and more — focused on the lives of the privileged teenagers living in Manhattan’s Upper East Side. But things got complicated when someone in their clique started running a gossip site dedicated to exposing the drama from their inner circle.
It turns out, Ed actually revealed that he’s totally down for a revamp back in 2017. But there was a catch. The British star told Radio Times that he would return to the big city as Chuck only if he was offered the big bucks.
“I’ll do it then, hundred percent,” the 31-year-old actor teased. “But it’s such a strange thing to think about. It feels like we only just finished!”
Um, CW, you better whip out your checkbooks because it would not be Gossip Girl without Chuck Bass!
