With the 2018 Grammy Awards fast approaching, fans were certainly hopeful that Justin Bieber would use the night to make his triumphant return to the stage — or, perhaps, pack on the PDA and surprise everyone by making his relationship with Selena Gomez red carpet official. It’s not too crazy to assume, especially since Jelena has been attached at the hip since reuniting. But fans should know that Biebs is most likely going to be a no-show at the awards ceremony, despite being nominated alongside Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee for the bop of the summer “Despacito.” Okay, so maybe Justin doesn’t want to show up to (possibly) collect an award beside the guys, but he’s going to be there to perform the song, right? Wrong.

Looks like the “Love Yourself” singer has no desire to be part of music’s biggest night, according to TMZ. A source recently spoke to outlet and revealed that the reason why Justin doesn’t want to attend the show is because he’s too busy being in the studio. (Plus, he’s been spending a lot of time with his family lately.)
The source said, “Bieber loves Luis and Daddy, but he’s passing on the performance because he doesn’t want to make appearances until he finishes his new album.”
Okay, so of course there’s the heartbreaking news that Justin won’t be making a surprise cameo during the show to deal with. But on the bright side? New music from the “Cold Water” singer is on the way! Given the numerous collabs Justin has dropped, there is plenty of music that fans have been able to tide themselves over with. Still, he hasn’t released an album since Purpose back in 2015. Could 2018 be the year fans get a brand new album from the Canadian singer? Only time will tell, but we’ve definitely got our fingers crossed for some potential new tracks. Who knows? Maybe the world will finally get that promised Jelena collab in the process too.
