We can guarantee that almost everyone here has had an embarrassing moment on a date, right? It’s pretty terrible when that happens, but if it makes you feel any better, you’re definitely not alone!
It may be hard to believe, but celebrities have had their fair share of awkward moments too — including Jack Johnson! The Jack & Jack member just opened up to J-14 exclusively about a super embarrassing moment he had during a date, and uh, we cannot stop laughing.
So here’s what went down. Jack decided to take his girlfriend out to dinner for Valentine’s Day back in 2013 but unfortunately, something went terribly wrong.
“I thought my mom had put my allowance on my debit card for the week and I guess I wasn’t supposed to get it until the next day. Something happened where my card didn’t go through,” the 22-year-old explained. “I saw the waiter walking back with the check, I was just like, ‘Oh s–t, it definitely didn’t go through. What am I gonna say? I feel like such a fool.’”
Uh-oh! But don’t worry, guys, his girlfriend was totally cool about it!
“Luckily, my girlfriend at the time was not tripping at all because I had already gotten her gifts. So she was like, ‘Don’t worry, I can cover dinner,'” he continued. “I was like, ‘I’m so sorry, I know it’s supposed to be me paying for it. That’s the guys job on Valentine’s Day.’ But regardless, she was sweet enough to cover it and didn’t make a fuss of it at all. But I was embarrassed.”
Awww, it sounds like it was an amazing date, even with the hilarious setback.
“I got her some flowers and an iTunes gift card,” Jack told us. “We went to dinner real quick, and ended up watching a movie back at my house. It was nothing too crazy, just a simple dinner date. I did the whole flowers and chocolates and gift card thing. I don’t even know what I was doing, honestly.”
So who was the lucky lady? Well, the “No One Compares To You” singer unfortunately didn’t disclose her identity, but he did reveal that the 2013 date was the only time he was in a relationship on Valentine’s Day. As fans of the YouTube star know, he’s pretty private when it comes to his love life. He was linked to Claudia Tihan back in 2017, but other than that he’s reportedly stayed single.
As for this year, he’ll be spending it alone, but he’s definitely not bummed about it! And he wants his fans to know that they shouldn’t be either.
“To anyone out there who’s single on Valentine’s Day — you’re not missing too much,” he added. “Trust me.”
