Tomorrow is a big day for Disney Channel fans (which tbh, who isn’t?!). That’s right – Friday, Aug. 10 is the premiere of Freaky Friday, and we could not be more thrilled that the world finally gets to see the Disney Channel Orginal Movie. It follows the classic story of the Freaky Friday movies of the past, like the 2003 film with Lindsay Lohan. A mother and daughter switch bodies, forcing them to put themselves in one another’s shoes.

We caught up with Freaky Friday star Jason Maybaum — who is best known from Raven’s Home, where he plays Chelsea’s son Levi. Throughout the entire movie, his character Fletcher has a sister for a mom and a mom for a sister. Yeah, pretty confusing. Watch our exclusive interview with Jason in the video above to learn all about what went into his role!

The film is a movie-musical – so yeah, you could say it’s in pretty good company with High School Musical, Teen Beach Movie, Descendants… the list goes on. So naturally, we just had to ask Jason what it was it being a part of an iconic DCOM musical. Turns out, it was his first time singing and dancing professionally!

“This was my first time. I’m not a singer,” he exclusively tells J-14. “You can barely hear me sing – barely.”

So what’s Jason’s fave DCOM, other than Freaky Friday – you ask? Just like us, he’s totally a Descendants fan.

“I like Descendants 2 better than one – Descendants one was a little low-energy. And I definitely liked Dove Cameron‘s hair in the second one better,” he spills.

OK, so we know Descendants 3 wrapped filming and all – but we think this guy needs a special appearance. He’s a DCOM pro now, after all!
