But no one asked you? Derick Dillard took to Twitter on Wednesday, Aug. 2, to share his unwarranted opinion about fellow TLC star Jazz Jennings and her reality show, I Am Jazz. For reasons we may never understand, the Counting On personality, 28, decided that it was a good idea to attack the 16-year-old trans advocate.

“What an oxymoron… a ‘reality’ show which follows a non-reality,” the dad-of-one — who shares son Israel with wife Jill Duggar — wrote. “‘Transgender’ is a myth. Gender is not fluid; it’s ordained by God.”

It wasn’t long before one of Derick’s followers clapped back in support of Jazz, asking him, “Is it necessary for a grown man to throw shade at a teenage girl?” He did his best to defend himself, and claimed that he harbors no ill will toward Jazz — even though he referred to her using the wrong pronoun.

“I want to be clear. I have nothing against him. I only have issue with the words and definitions being propagated here,” he added, which prompted more heated responses from fans. “You mean her. Use the right pronoun if you have no issue,” one wrote, while another fumed, “He’s a grown man attacking a child! He’s being a bully!”

TLC addressed Derick’s tweets in a statement on Thursday afternoon. “It’s important for us to let our viewers know that Derick Dillard’s personal statement does not represent the views of TLC,” the network said in a tweet. To see how Jazz responded to Derick’s criticism, check out the video below!

Even days later, Derick has refused to back down. He took to social on Aug. 8, to tweet, “It seems truth is relative these days. So glad my God is the same yesterday, today, and forever! His word is always perfect!”

I Am Jazz airs on TLC Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET.
