Some fans have accused Jeffree Star of ripping off the packaging from his “Blood Lust” eyeshadow palette, after they noticed some similarities between it and a 2014 Lorac product.

The Lorac makeup collection, which was called “The Royal,” came packaged in a red velvet hexagonal box, with a crown motif and fancy filigree around the edges. Jeffree’s “Blood Lust” palette comes in a purple velvet hexagonal box, also with a crown motif and fancy filigree around the edges.

Fans were quick to point out that in an old video from Shane Dawson‘s “Beautiful World of Jeffree Star” YouTube series — which documented him and Jefree making their own collection — the beauty guru could actually be seen looking at the Lorac palette.

“I had never heard of this Lorac collection before but I have to say I was quite shocked to see how similar Jeffree’s palette is to Lorac’s. Jeffree has been known for calling out other brands for ripping off their launches, especially Huda — who Jeffree claimed copied Beauty Bakerie. I’m interested to see what you think of the similarities between these two, after doing a quick google for myself I was pretty taken back,” one Reddit user wrote, with another adding, “Those boxes look extremely similar to me regardless of what’s inside! I thought it was very strange that he didn’t call that palette ‘Royal Blood’ as ‘Blood Lust’ doesn’t really make much sense given that the palette is clearly royal themed. I wonder if it was to avoid being sued by Lorac? I just don’t understand why if he wouldn’t change the packaging up some more, I mean they look super alike to me… C’mon [Jeffree]… You can’t call out other brands for copying each other and then brazenly nick your packaging and change the fonts.”

Others were quick to defend the YouTuber, claiming that Lorac didn’t “invent the hexagon.”

“I mean a hexagon box isn’t revolutionary for anyone. So realistically, no I don’t think it’s copying,” one of his supporters wrote.
