It’s kind of hard to imagine anyone else but all the actors we have come to know and love on Riverdale bringing the Archie Comics characters to life, but there was a time things could’ve been different. Like any TV show or movie, there was obviously an auditon process to find the perfect Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead, and all of your faves. And while KJ Apa, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, Cole Sprouse, and all of the cast is pretty perfect to us, it could’ve been much different. What if Katherine Langford was part of the Core Four?
Camila spilled to Entertainment Weekly that the 22-year-old starlet— best known as her role of Hannah Baker in 13 Reasons Why — auditioned for the role of Betty Cooper. “I remember we went out and we got falafel with a guy who was auditioning for Archie,” Camila said about hanging out with Katherine after their auditions. And although Lili ended up with the role of Betty, Cami and Katherine stayed friends.
“I remember when I met her, too — I never saw her act, but some people just have a personality that’s so genuine that I’m like, ‘I feel like you’re a really good actor,'” the 24-year-old said.
“They have a presence. I had that feeling with her. It’s just so funny to think about that time in my life. I would have never thought in that moment that I would be here, and that she would be where she is. It’s crazy!” OK, now how amazing is it that these two have stayed so close and supportive of each other for so long now? Although Katherine didn’t end up with a role on Riverdale, she was perfect for her leading part in 13RW and will be starring in the upcoming Netflix series Cursed. And we’re sure Cami is nothing but proud of her longtime bud. Seeing these two being so supportive of each other is what it’s all about.
