Who remembers back in 2006 when the Kelly’s Shoes video was all anyone ever talked about? Well guys, you might want to brace yourselves because the viral star is back with a brand new video for the first time in eight years. Yep, the YouTuber behind the hilarious character, Liam Kyle Sullivan, just put his blonde wig and red lipstick back on, and uploaded a brand new clip called “Masks,” and we cannot stop watching it!
Get this, you guys — he even brought back the star who played Kelly’s mom — Pam Cook — in the original video to reprise her role! Plus, her dad and grandmother made special appearances, too! Wow, we are seriously living for this.
The new video took the original song but changed the lyrics in an attempt to encourage people to wear masks amid the coronavirus pandemic. Instead of saying “Let’s get some shoes,” Kelly now sang, “Let’s wear a mask.” Want to know the best part? A portion of the money made from the video is going to be donated to charity!
“We’re donating a portion of the revenue generated from this video to Doctors Without Borders, to help in their fight,” the description of the new video reads. “It’s great to see you all! Stay safe and let’s keep caring about each other!”
For those who forgot, the original video has gained more than 67 million views since it came out in 2006, and at the time, Liam went on to upload tons more videos as the hilarious persona. But in 2012, he uploaded his last video as Kelly — until now, that is!
Naturally, after it was uploaded on Tuesday, September 1, the new visual quickly went viral (it has almost 300,000 views already!), and the fans flooded the comment section with their excited reactions.
“The only good thing about 2020: Kelly’s back,” one person wrote, with another adding, “The comeback of Kelly is the only redeemable thing about 2020.”
BRB, going to watch this on repeat now.
