Longtime lovers! Liam Payne and Maya Henry have experienced some ups and downs throughout their relationship.
In May 2022, the singer’s rep confirmed to J-14 that “they have split up.”
Their most recent breakup comes almost a month after Liam and Maya called it quits in June 2021, but reconciled shortly thereafter. At the time, the singer confirmed their breakup while appearing on an episode of “The Diary of a CEO” podcast. “I am indeed [single],” Liam said. “I feel like more than anything at this point, I’m more disappointed in myself that I keep on hurting people. That annoys me. I’ve just not been very good at relationships.”
He continued, “And I know what my pattern of things is with relationships at this point. I’m just not very good at them so I just need to work on myself before I put myself on to somebody else.”
As for why they split? Liam explained that he “wasn’t giving a very good version of me anymore.”
“I can honestly say I feel better out of it,” the singer continued, in part. “I didn’t feel good doing what I did but it had to happen. Just a corny way to say it was the best for us both.”
Nearly two months later, it was widely reported that the two had gotten back together. In September 2021, Liam and Maya appeared to confirm that they were, indeed, back on while walking the red carpet at a London Fashion Week. According to photos obtained by the Daily Mail at the time, the pair posed together during their arrival.
Liam and Maya first sparked romance rumors in August 2018, but they didn’t go public until a year later when they were photographed holding hands. From that point on, fans got an inside look into their relationship thanks to both stars on social media.
They appeared to take the next step in their relationship in August 2020 when the Daily Mail obtained photos of Maya wearing what looked like a massive engagement ring. That same month, the One Direction singer’s rep confirmed to Us Weekly that the two stars were gearing up to walk down the aisle together after two years of dating. When asked about the engagement during a virtual appearance on Good Morning America in September 2020, Liam gushed, “We’re really happy.”
In a separate interview with KISS FM U.K. Liam gushed, “I am very lucky. She is really great. I’m very happy right now.”
