Congratulations are in order for Liam Payne and his girlfriend, Maya Henry, because the couple is reportedly engaged! Yep, Daily Mail has reported that the two stars are gearing up to walk down the aisle together after two years of dating!
According to the outlet, the 19-year-old was spotted wearing a diamond engagement ring (which is reportedly worth almost $4 million!) while out to dinner with the One Direction member on Thursday, August 27.
“They looked so smitten during their meal and it was hard to miss Maya’s ring — it’s a real dazzler!” an onlooker told them. “They couldn’t stop smiling. It’s clear they’re so deeply in love.”
The outlet added that the “Strip That Down” crooner popped the question during lockdown, but kept it under wraps until now.
As fans know, Liam and Maya were actually photographed spending some time together back in August 2018, but when he was spotted packing on the PDA with Cairo Dwek a few weeks later, everyone assumed that their relationship had fizzled out. But one year later, in August 2019, they were photographed holding hands, seemingly confirming their relationship once and for all.
And according to The Sun, the pop star and the model were actually together for a while before that! The outlet reported that the pair wanted to keep their romance a secret until they knew it was the real deal.
“Liam and Maya have been together for several months now. He is besotted and they get on very well,” a source told them at the time. “He wanted to wait before they started going public. He is close to Cheryl and, out of respect to her, only wanted to go public with a girlfriend when he knew it was right.”
It turns out, Maya is actually a big 1D fan herself! Yep, there’s a picture of her with the boys from a 2015 meet and greet floating around the web, so she’s practically living all of our dreams, TBH.
In September 2019, the singer couldn’t stop gushing over the brunette beauty. When asked if he was in a relationship, he told KISS FM UK, “I am yeah, I am. I am very lucky. She is really great. I’m very happy right now.”
When the radio host asked the 26-year-old if it’s hard to date while being in the spotlight, he explained, “No, it’s kind of got to the point with my life, where I’m like, screw this. It’s not worth my happiness.”
“If someone is going to take a picture, someone is going to do something,” he continued. “The difference is with her, she’s so relaxed that it helps me relax in a situation, rather than being somewhere, and talk about who is watching and what’s going on. People are going to watch whatever. What am I supposed to do? I can’t do anything about it now. It’s too late for that. It’s just been quite nice and just going out. I’ve managed to explore a lot more of London than I ever have actually my life, which has been quite fun. My life has been quite normal recently, which has been a break.”
