Liam Payne is out here making some not-so-good life choices at the moment. The former One Direction star was caught puffing on a cigarette just five months after he told Kiss FM that he had kicked the bad habit. Liam said, “I stopped smoking, that’s the best thing ever. Honestly, anyone out there who’s trying to stop smoking, just do it, honestly. I just did cold turkey, I knew my son was coming, and I was like, I’m not gonna be smoking with my son, that’s not right. My life’s not my own anymore, now, it’s not mine to decide, so smoking had to go.”
When Liam made the confession, his fans really commended him. They were super proud and gave the “Strip That Down” singer tons of encouragement. Some fans even related his smoking habits to their own life, admitting that they wished their dads could have stopped smoking for them. The stories really give you all the feels. One Twitter user wrote, “Smoking is so hard to stop, my dad is 57 and he can’t stop at all. Liam quit for Bear and I am so proud of him for doing so :).”

Another wrote, “LIAM QUIT SMOKING IM SO PROUD OF HIM, IT IS LITERALLY THE THING THAT IM PROUD THE MOST OF HIM, AN ETERNAL FACT.”

Of course, these were tweeted back in May when the word got out that he was done with the tobacco habit. The new photos of him lighting up are just starting to surface and we have a feeling the reaction from these fans and all of the others aren’t going to be good. Of course, smoking isn’t a great look and it’s dangerous for Liam’s health and those around him, so we have a feeling Liam really was being genuine when he said he wanted to stop. However, sometimes, especially in the celebrity world, the stress and the pressure lead you back to places you may not necessarily want to go.
The photos of Liam smoking were taken while he was in London’s Trafalgar Square shooting the music video for his track “Get Low” with Zedd. We must remember that there is no context for these photos. It’s possible that Liam realized going “cold turkey” was harder than it seemed and now may be having fewer cigarettes than usual to try and break the habit. To be even more clear, just because he was seen smoking, definitely does not mean he smokes around his son. Even if he wanted to, there’s no way mama Cheryl would allow that, either! Let’s hope Liam really weights the pros and cons of this habit.
