Lili Reinhart catapulted onto everyone's radar thanks to her role as the one and only Betty Cooper on Riverdale. With that signature blonde ponytail and on-screen romance with Jughead Jones that every fan of the show is obsessed over, it's easy to see why she's become someone everyone is simply fascinated with. Betty is already an epic character and if you follow Lili on social media, then you know she's hilarious and obviously much different from the character she plays on TV, which makes her even more intriguing to fans. But now, she being vocal about how she's not so happy when people basically treat her like she's fictional character when she's out and about in the real world.
The starlet took to Twitter to let fans know that while she is happy to meet them whenever she can, there is a line as to what is and isn't okay to do to someone just because they're a celebrity and happen to be on your favorite show. In a now-deleted tweet, she wrote, "To the two girls who are repeatedly photographing me as I'm eating my lunch… I see you. You aren't slick…. that's f— ing rude. ?????"
Yikes. Taking photos of someone while they eat is well, rather weird when you think about it. Even though Lili is famous, she's still a person like the rest of us, so easy to see why she would naturally be upset. A fan tweeted back at her a bit unhappy with Lili's words writing, "Whats with celebs these days? If u don't want that much attention then quit acting for good. Be nice to the fans pls." Lili wasn't all that happy to see this reaction since that's not exactly what she meant and she sent out another tweet explaining herself.
No, no, no. This is what's wrong— you think you're entitled to take a photo of me while I'm alone and eating because I'm on a tv show. So I asked for it, right? Wrong. I am a human being. I am not Betty Cooper. You aren't entitled to me. At all. https://t.co/0sF1cjw6yF

She just wants to remind everyone that she is a person just like the rest of us and she wants to be treated that way. Betty isn't a "real" person, Lili is and her job is bringing a character to life on a show. Sometimes, people can tend to forget that, so she's out here reminding them that.
Lili hasn't been shy when it comes to letting people know how she's been dealing with her sudden fame and how having fans recognize her and come up to her is still something she's learning all about.
"Fans feel like they know who we are. And they feel entitled to touch us or ask us personal questions, which people have. You would never walk up to a stranger and hug them. You would never walk up to a stranger and ask them who are they dating… But when people come up and ask for pictures, it's like, of course. And sometimes I am in a terrible mood, but I’ll still do it, and then I do feel like, 'What if that fan experience was a let down for them and I wasn’t as exciting in person?' But I am not Betty Cooper. I’m always going to try to be as happy and grateful to fans, but I’m also just trying to live my life. I don’t have an on switch all of the time. It's something that I am getting used to, or trying to. I don’t know how anyone can get used to that," Lili said in an interview with W.
It's definitely a major life adjustment to go from being a normal everyday person to someone so many people think they really know because they're a fan of yours, so let's all just be a little nicer, shall we? If you happen to be lucky enough to see a celeb you admire IRL, just approach the star with kindness and we're sure you'll get that right back.
