We might only be three seasons into the gem of a show that is Riverdale, but all of the actors on the show have truly made their marks, each still taking the time to work on other projects in-between filming episodes of the show. For Lili Reinhart, her role as Betty Cooper is her big break and she’s very aware of the fact that this what most people know her as. But the actress already has her mind made up that sorry not sorry, she’s not going to be Betty forever. While she loves bringing the beloved Archie Comics character to life, Lili knows one day she will move on.
“I don’t want to play Betty Cooper my whole life. I’m ready to play different characters,” Lili said to Teen Vogue. “I know what my limits are. I know that after Riverdale, I don’t want to do another 22-episode show because it really does take up your entire life, and as a 22-year-old, I want to be able to do other things.”
And hey, there’s nothing wrong with that! No show lasts forever anyway and Lili is so different IRL from the character she plays, it only makes sense she’ll want to do something else so people can not only get to know who she really is, but who she is an actress. Being on a show as popular as Riverdale does come at a price too, which she made clear when she spoke about how when she was in Europe with her on and off-screen love Cole Sprouse, they were followed around by paparazzi which made it hard for her to just go out and sightsee.
“I wish I had been able to see Europe before being recognizable because our show is so popular there,” she said. “I was not able to enjoy Paris because of [the paparazzi], and I really wish I had just gone and done my own thing, explored museums, but I couldn’t. It was too overwhelming.”
Well, one day (sadly) the series will come to an end and since Lili doesn’t really want to commit to being a regular on another series like this, we have a feeling she’ll be able to have that low-key trip she wanted one day. But is forever our Betty Cooper, that’s for sure!
