Ever since Maddie Ziegler posted a photo cozying up to her boyfriend Eddie Benjamin, fans have been searching the web trying to find more info on the former Dance Moms star’s new man! After having a super public romance in the past, the reality TV alum has kept her current relationship pretty private up until now. So, Maddie’s followers were definitely shook when she shared the PDA-filled pic.
“We’re sending everyone calm and positive vibes,” the dancer captioned the steamy snap, which showed the two stars laying in bed together.
It’s unclear when exactly they started dating, but in a September 2019 interview with Marie Claire, Maddie got real about why she decided to keep her relationship with Eddie out of the public eye.
“I had a public relationship for two years, and I am never, ever going to make any relationship public as much as I did,” she told the publication “I learned my lesson. On Instagram, people have assumed certain people that I am dating, but I’m just like, give it a rest.”
Eddie, for his part, is a budding music star who dropped his debut EP Emotional in April 2021, which included a song — titled “Speechless” — about Maddie. “We were best friends right around the time I wrote it; I played it for her, and she’s been obsessed ever since,” he told WWD of the song. Of course, the dancer also starred in the music video.
When it comes to his music, Eddie calls Justin Bieber a major influence. In fact, Eddie has been Justin’s opening act for his 2022 tour. Maddie told Cosmopolitan in June 2022, that her and Eddie have gotten rather close to the singer and his wife, Hailey Bieber.
The West Side Story actress also revealed to the outlet when she and Eddie, who started as best friends, realized their relationship turned romantic. “We were sitting on a couch together late at night. We’d been best friends for a while and both broken up with other people; a little bit of time had passed,” she explained.
“We were just talking and he was like, ‘Yeah, me and you just have so much love for each other, it gets confusing.’ I was like, ‘Yeah, it totally does.’ And then we both just looked at each other and I was like, ‘Oh.'” Cuties!
