On March 16, 2020, fashion icons of the world were heartbroken when the editor-in-chief of Vogue, Anna Wintour, announced that because of the current coronavirus pandemic, the 2020 Met Gala had been canceled — but that doesn’t mean Katy Perry can’t show off the look she planned on wearing! On Monday, May 4, the American Idol judge took to Instagram and gave her 95 million followers an exclusive look at the stunning Jean Paul Gaultier designed, copper-colored corset which would have rocked the red carpet had the event taken place.

“What would have been… #TheMetBall2020,” the 34-year-old captioned the snap.

The pregnant “Teenage Dream” singer — who announced that she was expecting her first daughter with Pirates of the Caribbean star Orlando Bloom back in March — wasn’t the only celeb who showed off what they would have worn to the annual event. That’s right, even Emma Roberts got in on all the fun and posted an adorable snap of her show-stopping look. Yeah, it’s safe to say that the Scream Queens star would have totally slayed the red carpet with her pink Giambattista Valli gown, TBH!

“In a parallel universe we’re at the #met tonight,” the actress captioned the pics.

For those who missed it, a few days before the first Monday in May, Vogue Magazine teamed up with Billy Porter and launched Instagram’s Met Gala Challenge. The performer asked fellow stars, and normal people, to pick their favorite look from the annual event and recreate it in their home. Naturally, the submissions did not disappoint, and the Pose star even shared some of his favorite looks to his Instagram Stories!

“The time has come for the challenge to end all fashion challenges. Pick an iconic Met Gala look from years past and recreate it in your home,” Billy told fans in the now-viral Instagram video. “You best be creative.”
