Talk about the ultimate #tbt. Miley Cyrus is back with her heartfelt new track "Malibu" and she refreshed new outlook and overall vibe. But of course, she ended up finding her way back home. The star stopped by Radio Disney, yes as in the Disney where her career began, and it was the best trip down memory lane.
While Miley was hanging out in the RD studios, she was paid a visit by Gary Marsh, President and Chief Creative Officer, Disney Channels Worldwide — so the big boss man over at Disney Channel — and he brought with him a special clip. He played Miley's audition tape from before she was cast in Hannah Montana for the starlet to watch. And Miley had the best reaction to reliving this life-changing moment from her youth. OK, can we talk about how if anyone was ever met to be a superstar, it's Miley. She was so confident and her singing voice has always been captivating. During the interview at the station, she explained that the song she auditioned with is actually kind of similar to what she's singing about now with her new single.
"I auditioned with a song that I had written (with a friend of my dad’s) called 'We’re Going to the Beach.' And it was about being in Nashville and leaving to go to the beach. And that (the beach) being a paradise and a home… that’s the paradise to live. When you want to take a break you go to the beach and all your worries are gone," Miley said. "Now promoting this new song 'Malibu,' that coming from Nashville I never would have imagined living in Malibu at this time in my life or by the ocean because I grew up on a farm. And now it’s just sort of ironic that these two songs are from the same person, just (almost) fifteen years later."
Excuse us while we sob over here. She really has come full circle, embracing her Disney Channel past and channeling that into creating her future. Oh, and you know how 'Malibu" is about her love for her fiancé Liam Hemsworth? Well, Miley explained to Sweety High, who was also at Radio Disney hanging out, that there is actually another love of life this song represents: her animals.

"My dog Emu is in the video and I didn't know that he was going to be such natural in font of the camera. My favorite part is that everyone like 'Awws' when Emu comes onto the screen. He's kind of like my co-star and representing a love of your life, which as you know, my animals are that for me," she said.
Precious. We have a feeling Miley would totally rock this cat sweater from a classic HM episode now.
Talk about really embracing your past.
