Yesterday was the 2017 MTV Europe Music Awards, and it was definitely a very eventful experience. The show was on unusually early for those who live in America since it was live from Wembley Arena in London – so in case you didn't get a chance to see it all (or even if you did), we're giving you the interesting details from the show that are truly worth witnessing. Here it goes...
Shawn Mendes brought his grandma along.
So Shawn Mendes won not one, not two – but three EMA awards. He snagged "Best Song" for his jam "There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back," along with the "Best Arist" and "Biggest Fans" categories. What made the night the most special though was the fact that he brought his Nana along for the ride.
Our hearts just about combusted into a trillion little pieces when she gave him a hug and a kiss before we went up to receive his "Best Artist" award. Can you even imagine how proud she is of her grandson? So sweet!
Someone snuck on the stage during French Montana's performance.
Well, that was unexpected. Viewers may or may not have noticed someone climbing up on stage and jumping around with a banner during French Montana and Swae Lee's performance. It almost looked like it was part of the show – that's how unaffected the performers were. No really, Swae Lee even put his arm around him as if he was a backup dancer or something. Crew members quickly stepped in to lead the man away though. It all happened in the blink of an eye, really.
So who was it, you ask? The YouTube channel Trollstation was behind it, as they're a group of British pranksters who do crazy social experiments like this one. Apparently, they were trying to raise money for Children In Need – which like, at least it was for a good cause?
