Every single year, we look forward to the Met Gala. Not only do we get to see all our favorite celebs walk the iconic steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, but they usually do so in very extravagant outfits that we can only dream of wearing in our lifetime. Well, Niki and Gabi DeMartino felt so inspired by Kendall and Kylie Jenner‘s looks this year that they decided to try and recreate them in their latest YouTube video.
“Today, we are going to do one of our DIY Hobby Lobby challenges where we have to recreate their outfits from scratch,” Gabi explained.
Since Gabi was obsessed with Kylie’s look, and Niki loved Kendall’s, this challenge made a ton of sense. Plus, fans were tweeting at them saying that if they were to hit up the star-studded event, they’d likely wear outfits very similar to the ones Kendall and Kylie were rocking. In fact, some people even went as far as to photoshop their faces onto the Keeping Up With the Kardashians stars’ bodies. Now that’s dedication.
On their visit to the craft store, the YouTubers purchased a wide variety of items to create their outfits. From baskets and duct tape to feather boas and notebooks, Niki and Gabi bought anything and everything that could potentially help them achieve Kendall and Kylie’s extravagant Met Gala looks.
While there’s no getting around the fact that they didn’t get the dresses exactly right, we really admire how crafty they were! Gabi spray-painted the basket lavender and used it as the bodice of the gown, and we’re actually kind of impressed. As for Niki, the jury’s still out on whether or not neon orange duct tape was the right move, but hey, it’s better than we can do!
Overall, we’d say it was a success. Sure, the looks aren’t identical, but the internet stars had a lot of fun. That’s all that matters, right?
