There is major trouble in paradise for Noah Cyrus and 21-year-old Soundcloud rapper Lil Xan. Shortly after making their red carpet debut at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards (and packing on the PDA), the couple took to social media to share that their relationship basically went down in flames. After Lil Xan claimed the relationship was all a stunt, he’s now taking the blame that it was all his fault. This breakup is a messy one, so here’s a breakdown.

Is Lil Xan actually taking the blame?

After stirring the pot and saying that the relationship was all fake, the rapper is now putting the blame on himself.

“Honestly, honest to God, I would say, most of the reason the breakup happened, it was my fault. We could’ve still been together. I just feel like I f—-d everything up,” he said during an appearance on Complex’s Open Late with Peter Rosenberg.

Was Lil Xan and Noah Cyrus’ relationship a publicity stunt?

Previously, Lil Xan said the relationship was fake. He said in an Instagram Stories video, “Shout out to Columbia Records too, for setting up that fake relationship. I didn’t want to do it, to be completely honest – it was just added work to my schedule, you know what I mean?”

However, Noah was completely taken aback by his claims, saying that their love was the real deal.

“If it was fake, why would I be asking you to come over to hang out. Why would you be saying good morning, baby, and why would my name be Noey [heart eyes] in your phone,” the 18-year-old star said. “In what world can I not ask my boyfriend to promote the song we have together?”

Why did Noah Cyrus and Lil Xan break up?

The saga started with Lil Xan posting that he felt Noah was being unfaithful. “I feel like I’m probably being cheated on,” he wrote on his Instagram Stories.

But from Noah’s perspective, this totally came out of no where – she linked the accusations to a meme she sent her former boyfriend.

“I’m heartbroken and confused,” Noah shared on her Instagram stories, alongside a screenshot of the pair’s text conversation. “This is the meme i sent diego that made him think im cheating on him.”

Noah then went on Instagram Live, describing through tears that she’s confused by the whole situation.

“I never did anything that I’m getting accused of,” the singer shared. “I woke up confused with a text from my mom asking what was going on, and I didn’t know.”

Lil Xan then did an Instagram Live of his own, saying, “I guess I was just being used. I thought I was in love but whatever. I’ll take that L. Heartbreak soldier. Thanks Noah. Hope the song does well.”

And to add to the drama level, as if all of this wasn’t crazy enough, Lil Xan also posted a video of his plaque for his song “Betrayed” being peed on.

Who cheated on who?

Both Noah and Lil Xan have accused the other of cheating.

“If ya’ll think that that meme is the reason I broke up with Noah, that is hilarious. I broke up with her because she was all over other dude,” Lil Xan said on his Instagram Stories, referring to a picture Noah shared with her arm over producer, singer and DJ Ookay.

Noah took to her Instagram Stories once again to set the record straight on her end – after shutting down the rumor that this whole relationship was a publicity stunt.

“The truth is I haven’t seen him in almost a week. Every time we tried to hang out something always got in the way. I then saw a picture of a girl on a court on his story at 2 a.m. When I FaceTimed him later on, I noticed a hickey. He told me it was just a bruise. I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt and ignored it,” she wrote in a series of posts. “Cheaters like to accuse their partners of cheating to make themselves feel less guilt. This isn’t the first time this has happened to me and now I’m being forced to deal with crazy accusations when I’m not even sure where all this came from.”

Noah then went on to address her ex-boyfriend directly.

“I’ve been there for you during your dark times Diego. When you felt alone and like no one was there for you, I was. If this was your way of breaking up with me and breaking my heart along with it, then you’ve succeded,” she wrote. “If I can keep my head up through this then so can all of you strong, amazing, beautiful girls out there.”

How did they start dating?

Lil Xan shared at the VMAs that he actually slid into Noah’s DMs before meeting her, and that’s how it all happened. “We started hanging out and we had just such good chemistry,” he spilled in an interview with Access. “I was definitely intimidated – I just went for it.”

Does Noah’s family like Lil Xan?

As for what the Cyrus squad thinks (well, thought)? They loved him while the two were dating.

Noah gushed to Billboard, “I wish I had my freaking phone right now, so you can see the texts from my mom. Like sending my screenshots of us like, ‘I’m obsessing over you. Too cute.’ And then, she’ll like text me out of no where and be like – Xan is the cutest ever… Diego is so cute. My dad loves him.”

Her bae chimed in, “When I met Miley, it was all love.”

How did Lil Xan get his start?

It’s no secret that Noah’s big sister Miley Cyrus had her controversial phase back in the day, and it appears Lil Xan is on the edgier side as well. The California native – whose real name is Diego Leanos – is best known for his breakout song “Betrayed,” which peaked at number 64 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The artist dropped out of high school during his freshman year, and surprisingly didn’t even know he was going to pursue rapping at the time.

“I failed every class up until I dropped out freshman year,” Xan said in an interview. “I just could not sit down for seven hours a day and listen.”

Once he was out of school, he started taking photos – until his camera was stolen. So what did he do? He rapped to make the money to buy a new one.

The rapper continued, “My camera got stolen, so I started rapping. And you know, it started off real slow but six months later, it’s like an overnight sensation.”

The rapper received major backlash a few months back though when he rated Tupac’s music a 2 out of 9 in an interview where he was asked his opinion of the late rapper. Fans all over Twitter basically jumped down his throat for the comment, including Waka Flocka.

Well, it looks like Noah’s spark with the rapper is no more.
