Post Malone opened for Justin Bieber during the Purpose tour and the pair seemingly became quite good friends. They have never spoken badly about each other and both have mutual respect for each other’s artistry. However, we can’t say the duo is on the same page when it comes to religion and Justin’s infatuation with the Hillsong Church. It’s no secret that the Biebs has become incredibly close to the lead pastor at Hillsong, Carl Lentz, over the past year. They have been seen out and about as well as on social media. Justin’s rekindled love with Selena Gomez also seems to revolve around their faith and this church.

While speculation has been running rampant about what Carl and Justin’s relationship is really like, Post Malone is out here talking about what he thinks is really going on behind closed doors. In a Rolling Stone profile, Post Malone said Justin had turned “super-religious” and “real culty.” He even went so far to reveal that Justin may have actually donated 10 million dollars to the church.

Post Malone said, “It’s nice to support something you believe in, I guess. But people are spending so much money, and God doesn’t care that your church has a f-cking gold roof.” Post Malone again labeled the church “a total cult” all while calling Justin a, “f-cking awesome, great dude” and a “genuine friend.” Well, the drama doesn’t stop there because Carl got wind of the whole thing and took it upon himself to set the record straight.

Carl chatted with Rolling Stone too and said, “I put no stock in comments made by people who know absolutely nothing about the subject they are speaking on. I do not know Post Malone, and I have no idea why he would say reckless things about our church, which he has never visited. Justin has not given our church $10 million, and we do not have gold ceilings. We do not even own a church building. So that gives you a little insight about how serious you can take his observations about anything to do with us.”

Regardless of this weird tension that has now been built up between Carl, Post Malone, and Justin, the Hillsong pastor isn’t about to drag anyone himself. He went on to talk about his admiration for Post Malone. He said, “He is a very gifted artist. and I wish him nothing but the best.” MIC. DROP.

Justin has yet to comment on the whole thing, but we’d really like to hear from him. Can this really be true? Obviously, Justin has the money donate millions to something he loves but Carl has a point. The location that the church is held in New York City is a ballroom. It’s not a church building. We’re not totally sure if that’s part of the appeal of this modernized church and how they seem to cater to their young believers, but regardless we still want to know Justin’s side of the story. We have a feeling if he wanted to worship in a church building he would make that happen.
