An iconic director in the entertainment industry and a true friend to so many actors and actresses, Garry Marshall, has passed away at the age of 81.

Garry died from complications with pneumonia after he suffered a stroke at a hospital in California.

A rep for the director said, "The family requests no flowers. Donations in the name of Garry Marshall can be made to The Saban Community Clinic, formerly known as the Los Angeles Free Clinic, The Intensive Care Unit at Providence St. Joseph's Medical Center in Burbank, and Northwestern University Undergraduate Scholarship Fund."

His funeral will be private however a memorial will take place in Garry's honor on his birthday – November 13th.

Not only did he direct Princess Diaries and Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement but also Pretty Woman, Runaway Bride, Valentine's Day, New Year's Eve and Mother's Day. He also worked on numerous other projects throughout his career as a producer, actor, writer, voice artist and comedian.
