Warning: Spoilers ahead. Let’s get a show of hands — who else cannot get enough of Riverdale? The CW series quickly became everyone’s obsession after it aired in January 2017, and now, four seasons later, fans are still hooked! Well, fans of the show might want to prepare themselves because it was recently announced that the show has been renewed for it’s fifth season! That means that fans will be able to watch their favorite crew — Veronica Lodge, Archie Andrews, Betty Cooper and Jughead Jones — on screen together for a bunch more episodes, and based on what’s been revealed so far, this season sounds like it’s going to be the most intense one yet!

It’s been a few weeks since the cast resumed filming on on October 7, as reported by Deadline, after Variety reported that the show was put on hold due to Vancouver COVID-19 testing delays. Now that they’re gearing up for a premiere, Hermione Lodge herself — Marisol Nichols — is spilling some major tea about what fans can expect once the show returns to TV. She told Entertainment Tonight on October 21, 2020, that she’s “excited” for the seven-year time jump, which will bring some new relationships into the mix, especially for her character’s daughter, Veronica.

“I would say what I can tease is that it’s true about life. When you’re a teenager, relationships are very complicated and they get sometimes too serious and you’re not sure if you like this one or you like that one. Well, that follows you along as you grow up and it doesn’t necessarily get easier and we will see that with Veronica,” she explained.

As for her character’s relationship, Marisol said that Hermione will finally “stick up for herself.”

“She changed who she was to be with Hiram and, not that she’s innocent, but it bothered me. It bothered me just as a woman,” she explained. “I wanted to see her have some strength and some power and stand on her own two feet and not be stupid — for lack of a better word. So that was really important to me and Roberto honored that and I’m very happy about what I’m doing so far.”

The cast officially started shooting their fifth season on September 14! Creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa took to Instagram on with a photo of the show’s stars and made the epic announcement to fans.

“After fourteen days of quarantining and months of prep, #Riverdale Season 5 starts shooting tomorrow,” he wrote on September 13, 2020. “Looking forward to seeing the rest of the gang this week. Here we go.”

But wait, when will Season 5 come out? What will it be about? Who from the cast is returning for the fifth season and who’s leaving? And most importantly, since the coronavirus pandemic forced production of the show to shut down, what does that mean for the fifth season? Not to worry, people, because J-14 is here to break it all down once and for all.
