Big news for Sabrina Carpenter! After wrapping up Girl Meets World, the Disney Channel darling is saying hello to the big screen. The “Why” singer was just recently out headlining her very own tour, under the name “De-Tour” – but now, she’s putting her acting hat back on once again. Yep, that’s right. The GMW gal has been cast in a new movie, and we cannot be more proud of her.

Now, let us introduce to you Sabrina Carpenter’s new movie…

Her new project is  The Hate U Give, which is a book-to-movie adaptation of the Black Lives Matter-based young adult novel that goes by the same title. From the looks of the latest photo from set, it looks like things are starting to come along.

“things r happenin #TheHateUGive,” she tweeted alongside the behind-the-scenes photo.

Meet the cast of The Hate U Give.

Sabrina will be acting alongside The Hunger Games actress Amandla Stenberg. The story will follow the journey of a 16-year-old girl Starr (played by Amandla), who grew up in poverty before switching to a prep school in the suburbs. Starr ends up witnessing her unarmed best friend being shot by a police officer, and life, as you can imagine, gets turned upside down for her. As for Sabrina, she’ll be portraying Starr’s friend Hailey from the prep school. Also starring in the movie will be Russell Hornsby, Regina Hall and Issa Rae.

Co-stars Sabrina, Amandla and Megan Lawless already look like the best of friends.

The girls have been snapping tons of photos on set, in their school uniforms of course.

So like, how does Sab’s GMW co-star Rowan Blanchard fit into this?

It’s safe to say Sabrina and Amandla will become quick besties, as Sab’s GMW co-star and friend Rowan Blanchard is a mutual friend of theirs.

Hmm, we wonder if Rowan will pay a visit to her gal pals on set of their new film!

When does The Hate U Give come out?

There has been no word yet on a release date, but filming is already in full swing. If one thing is for sure, it’s that Sabrina wastes no time. She has been non-stop since her Disney Channel show wrapped, and it looks like there’s no end in sight!

Yep, she’s killin’ the whole career game. NBD.
