Alright, ladies! Have you ever heard of Krahs Swim? Well, add it to your list of favorite swimwear brands because not only are the designs amazing, but Selena Gomez helped create a bunch of ’em! Wait, what?
TBH, there’s a good chance you’ve never heard of Krahs, and that’s because it’s new to the swimwear industry. However, the brand was started by the former Disney Channel star‘s friend Theresa Mingus, and we’re absolutely living for these shark-inspired summer looks. The best part? The “Hands to Myself” songstress was committed to making a design that would help people with surgical scars feel more comfortable in their own skin, and guys, she succeeded.
“I did have a really good time designing,” the 26-year-old said in the Krahs Swim intro video. “It was fun. A design I did — one of them — it was the high-waisted one with the belt. I’ve had a kidney transplant, and I like bathing suits that kind of cover where that’s been and make me feel comfortable.”
Even though we’re huge proponents of rocking your scars with confidence, the truth is there are many people who simply don’t feel comfortable doing so. And of course, comfort is the most important thing. That said, we stand by Sel’s decision to create a bikini with more coverage not just for herself, but for others who also prefer to keep their scars concealed.
Not to mention, the Wizards of Waverly Place star learned a lot in the process — not just about swimwear, but about life too!
“After working with you, it’s helped me just understand not to take life too seriously,” she told Theresa. “I’ve grown up in a very difficult situation, so I felt like we bonded on that because we come from real places that, I don’t know, I just didn’t think that I could get through some of the hardest points in my life if it wasn’t for you.” Aww!
Like you, we’re stoked that Krahs Swim is making its official launch — and right before summer too! We can’t wait to check out all of their swimsuits, and of course, we’re so grateful that they’ve pieces with real women in mind. TBH, we can’t wait to support!
