We have to give her credit, Selena Gomez really was super vocal when it came to her decision to leave the spotlight for 90 days and work on her mental and physical health. Selena battles the chronic illness of Lupus which was the main reason she took this break and went to rehab. By going to a facility, Selena was able to help treat her illness in the best possible way without any other distractions.

She didn’t hide why she was leaving and put mostly everything out there so her fans were all on the same page. While Sel may not have revealed the exact amount of time she would be taking off, she did let the world in on enough information so that no one was speculating what was going on behind the scenes.

This trend of being open and honest with her Selenators isn’t stopping anytime soon. The “Hands to Myself” singer appeared on The Elvis Duran Show in New York City yesterday and said, “I haven’t really been all over the place lately and that’s kind of intentional. I think it’s important to balance out where I am and I’ve been doing this for a really long time and my sanity has meant everything to me, and a lot of that is my faith.”

Selena admitted that she understands why it is so important to be vulnerable, especially being a public figure and having fans. She has these fans who are young and being molded by all different things they see on television and the Internet. It’s almost as if she has a responsibility to be vulnerable and show them that she is real too. Selena is letting her fans know that, even though she seems perfect, she still deals with difficulties in her own life.

Sel continued, “I can’t sit there and pretend that everything is good because I’ve done that for years, and it doesn’t really work for me.”

For years, she hid her true feelings. It seems like she was putting on this front to make a lot of others happy. Finally, after 90 days away from the spotlight, she has officially made her comeback. With all of the work she put into the mega-successful Netflix series, 13 Reasons Why, the release of all new music and her budding relationship with The Weeknd – Selena is on the right path.

She spoke about her romance with the “Starboy” singer and alluded to the fact that it really has been years since she felt this kind of comfort. Selena said, “I love just being there and having someone’s back. It feels good. I haven’t had that feeling in awhile.”
