Selena Gomez Won't Make An Appearance In '13 Reasons Why' Season 2

13 Reasons Why season 2 might be set to explore more of Hannah Baker’s story but not Selena Gomez’s.

Ever since season 2 of Netflix’s most popular show was announced, rumors have been running wild about what is yet to come — everything from who will make guest appearances to what the plot will be to which characters’ stories will be explored even more. Selena, who was an executive producer for season 1, is on board for the next installment of episodes. However, that doesn’t mean she’ll show her face in front of the cameras.

Amy Hargreaves, who Clay’s mom in the series, chatted with ABC News and said, “It would become so much more about Selena Gomez and not about the story. It would kinda distract from the main story. So I can’t imagine that she would pop up for a cameo, but who knows? You never know.”

Wow! This is eye-opening, but also totally valid. Selena is one of the biggest celebrities in the world right now and everyone wants to know what she’s doing between her new music, her relationship with The Weeknd, and her involvement with 13 Reasons Why. If the “Good For You” singer were to make a cameo, every headline would be about just that – that Selena made a cameo. It would be about her acting and her character because the world would want to know about her experience.

13 Reasons Why has always been a huge advocate for sharing and bringing up a dialogue about suicide and high school bullying that has become so taboo in our society. This show has brought up the conversation and is making strides in a topic that used to be kept under wraps for the most part.

And it seems like they want to continue with this conversation during season 2.

While it would be incredible to see Selena’s face amongst the 13 Reasons Why cast, we have a feeling she wants this story to be told and shared without the distraction of her celebrity.
