If there’s one celebrity friendship everyone can admit is true endgame, it’s Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift. The two superstars have been friends for more than a decade now, and it’s always a true delight when they hit the stage together. Sel has been a special guest on three of the 28-year-old singer’s tours, and her most recent appearance on the Reputation Stadium Tour at Tay’s show at the Rose Bowl. The besties sang “Hands to Myself,” and it was nothing short of memorable for fans – and for the queens themselves. Speaking to E! News‘ Jason Kennedy, Sel explained that while it would seem like a huge deal performing on stage in front of thousands of people, she doesn’t see it as a job or anything like that. Instead, those times Tay brings her out on stage are basically what they do when they’re hanging out, having a girls’ night.
“Being with Taylor, it probably sounds super cheesy, but it doesn’t feel like I’m on her stage. It feels like we’re at my house, where we jump around, listening to music. It kind of makes us geek out more than I think the fans geek out. Because it’s like we’ve been friends for 12 years and we get to do this together. It’s cool,” Selena said.
OK, now that logic is super cute and we already know how epic it is for fans when the songstresses perform together. So knowing it’s even more special for them since it’s just an amped up version of a night in at Selena’s house is next level. Let us never forget the heartfelt speech the 26-year-old gave to her bestie during the show that brought on all the feels.
“I have to say thank you to my best friend of about 12 years, almost 13, and the reason why she has been one of my best friends is because this person has never ever judged a single decision I’ve made,” Selena said on stage. “She’s always met me where I’ve been. She’s encouraged me when I’ve had nothing to be encouraged about, and I don’t know if I would be as strong as I am if I didn’t have you and your family because you’ve changed my life. And—she’s going to kill me after—but honestly, thank you for the bottom of my heart for supporting someone who I know is the most beautiful, strong, independent woman I’ve ever met. So thank you as a best friend.”
Ugh, these two. Who would’ve thought the fact they happened to be dating two members of the Jonas Brothers at the same time years ago that they would still be sisters to this day? BFF goals, forever and always.
