Actress Shannon Purser has opened up about the anxiety she has been suffering with while she was coming to terms with her own sexuality. The star who is currently on TV as Ethel Muggs in the show Riverdale on The CW and as Barb Holland on the Netflix show Stranger Things took to Twitter to open up to fans about her struggle and her journey to getting "comfortable" with who she is.

"Getting comfortable with your sexuality is a process. It's going to be ok. I wish I'd known that sooner," the 19-year-old said in the beginning of her message thread.

She urged her followers to take it slow when it comes to figuring themselves out, which is something she wishes she would have known. She said, "Another thing I wish I'd known about sexuality is to take it slow. It can define you as much as you want it to."

"Either way, I know what it's like to have anxiety about it. Especially trying to come to terms with it and my faith. It can be really scary," she admitted.

"But it's gonna be ok. You're going to be ok. No, you're going to be great," she assured her followers.

"All that to say, you're not alone. You're in my prayers and, if you're the praying kind, please keep me in yours. ?"

It takes a lot of courage to open up about one's own personal struggles in such a public way. We hope that Shannon finds peace and finds ways to manage her anxiety and hope that the message reached people who are struggling with something similar.

On April 18, the star confirmed on Twitter that she had recently came out as bisexual to her friends and family.
