Fans know Shawn Mendes as the guy who has skyrocketed to fame in such a short period of time. From his days on Vine and YouTube to selling out the Madison Square Garden arena in minutes, this guy has certainly come along way in his professional life.
But, he shares something super emotional about his personal life while making an appearance on The Ellen Degeneres Show. She asks him about the tattoo he got not that long ago which seemingly resembles a guitar. Ever since he got it, fans weren't exactly sure what it meant. Of course, it must have something to do with music but when Shawn really explained it, there was just so much more!
Shawn spilled, "I had this idea for like a year before I got the tattoo. It’s the woods here and a reflection on water, a sound wave connecting to the city, being Toronto. Actually, the sound wave is my parents and my sister saying 'I love you,' so it’s that connection between home, work, and family."
Ahh! This is amazing. From a surface level, the guitar looks like an artistic drawing of the musical instrument but when we hear from Shawn, it's almost like fans can get into his head a little bit.
The meaning of the artwork just goes to show how close Shawn is with his family and how much his hometown and work really mean to him. The tattoo is even cooler now than when he first got it!
