Sia and Maddie Ziegler have an ultra close relationship. They have been working together for years now and the former Dance Moms star even credits the "Chandelier" singer for helping her come out of her shell a little bit. Unfortunately, Sia just got slammed for thrusting Maddie into the spotlight while staying back in the shadows in a story written by The Guardian. The whole thing talks about how Sia tries to hide herself using big wigs and costumes from all of the fame and celebrity because it can be damaging. While that is true, this story digs deeper into saying that if she feels this way, why would she make a child – Maddie – be exposed to that kind of lifestyle and environment.

Obviously, that didn't bode well with the singer who has always seemed to look out for Maddie's well being. She took to Twitter and explained, "This article poses a question I have asked myself often. I do check in with Maddie weekly about whether she wants this, and assure her if she ever wants it to stop it stops. It's a conversation we should all be having. Not just myself but all directors, stage parents and agents."

Sia continued to say that she feels very protective of Maddie because of the exposure she has given her. She has a valid point, too. Maddie's Dance Moms platform gave her a voice and presence within the industry but Sia has really grown that. She said, "With their children, clients, charges. Maddie was already famous when I discovered her, but I have certainly expanded her exposure and feel responsible for that. I feel very protective of her and my goal is to empower her in whatever choices she makes. Some would argue a teenager."

Sia didn’t stop there either. She said, “Can’t or shouldn’t be charged with making sound choices for themselves and so I do try to choose the best for her always. But I think this is an important conversation.”

Finally, she ended her series of tweets by explaining that fame has affected Maddie in a completely different way than it has affected her. While she doesn't give a reason why, it could be the fact that Maddie has basically grown up in the spotlight so she doesn't mind it as much. But, regardless, Sia is there for Maddie no matter what and they both have mutual trust between each other. She said, "What I learned from Maddie is that fame affects her differently than how it affected me. I can only trust that she is telling me the truth. If that changes, we stop."

Maddie has yet to comment on the drama but we have a feeling she is on the same page as Sia. She previously chatted with People magazine and said, "I’ve actually lived with [Sia] this year more than I have with my actual family, so it’s fun. We have the best time together. She teaches me how to cook and new things about life … It doesn’t feel like work when we’re together anymore. It’s really just a bond that we have. She’s my second mom." Nothing can come between these two!
