Before falling madly in love with Joe Jonas, Sophie Turner had a massive crush on Justin Bieber. In fact, her crush on the “Sorry” singer was so intense that she had to pretend he was her Game of Thrones costar in order to make it seem like she was in love on the show. Uh, what?
You heard that correctly, folks! In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, the 23-year-old discussed how much the pop star meant to her when she was younger, and she even admitted to owning more than a few JB posters. Turns out, the actress’ bedroom wall was covered in ’em, which is almost too relatable.
Her obsession with the “No Brainer” crooner actually wound up helping her, though — especially when it came to her role on the hit HBO series GoT. If you’re unfamiliar with the show, there’s an awful character named Joffrey, who’s pretty much the most evil person imaginable (at least for the first few seasons). Unfortunately, Sophie’s character Sansa was completely in love with him at first, and acting like you love someone who’s a downright awful person can be hard, to say the least.
Well, this is where Justin came in. Apparently, the producers gave her some awesome advice behind the scenes, which ultimately helped make Sansa and Joffrey’s love more convincing. The advice? To pretend he was none other than Justin Bieber. How brilliant is that?!
“David and Dan always told me, ‘Look at Joffrey as if he’s Justin Bieber and imagine that life.’ That’s the trick — how to get Sophie to act!” LOL.
TBH, it turned out to be a pretty good idea. Anyone who’s seen the show knows that it totally worked because, for a while, it definitely seemed like she fell for the terrible, yet extremely powerful King Joffrey. But — SPOILER ALERT — she eventually came around and realized how horrible he really was. Hmm… we wonder who she channeled to make her disgust for him seem so real.
