During a recent interview, TikTok star Ellie Zeiler opened up about the constant comparisons between her and Charli D’Amelio.
“[People] try to create this hate towards each other,” she explained on an episode of the “Teenager Therapy” podcast. “First of all, I’ve never met [Charli] before. Second of all, she seems awesome. Of course, we look alike and we’re both 16. I don’t know, people have this misconception.”
As fans know, the internet star first rose to fame on the app for looking like Charli. After months of being compared to her, Ellie clapped back at haters online who accused her of copying Charli, back in June. According to screenshots posted on the TikTok Room Instagram account, the internet star responded to some commenters who asked her to admit that she’s trying to be exactly like “the queen.” She also cleared the air after fans though she shaded Charli on social media.
“Maybe when [you] have [your] own identity, it’ll be better sis,” one person wrote. Ellie replied, “Awe, I have my own identity. Good luck with that bad attitude, sis.”
Another person pointed out, “[You] look like Charli, but [you] don’t dance like Charli.”
She wrote back, “Probably because I’m Ellie!”
While on the podcast Ellie stressed to listeners that she “cannot change” the way that she looks, she also said that some followers tell her to “dye her hair” or “try to look different.”
“I have looked this way my entire life, I cannot stress that enough,” Ellie added. “This is how I look and I’m not gong to change that for anyone who I can’t meet face-to-face because all these people have opinions on me. I can’t please everyone… I just have to do what’s right for me.”
She continued, telling the show’s host, Gael, “I’m not like a shape-shifter, this is what I look like. You know what I mean?”
