Singer iLoveMakonnen has publicly come out as gay. The hip-hop star announced the news via his Twitter account @iLoveMakonnen5D, and with a few tweets let his fans know his truth, saying that he could only speak for himself and not everybody else.

"As a fashion icon, I can't tell u about everybody else's closet, I can only tell u about mine, and it's time I've come out," he wrote.

He continued on to let people know that he was gay and saying this was "old news" and urged people to continue living their own lives now that they know his truth.

He wrote: "And since y'all love breaking news, here's some old news to break, I'm gay. And now I've told u about my life, maybe u can go [live] yours❤"

The star shared a screenshot of those two tweets on Instagram saying, "Thank you for letting me be myself.❤"

He rose to fame in 2014 after his song "Tuesday" featuring Drake became a smash hit. He has since left the Canadian rapper's label OVO to sign with Warner Bros. but claimed there was no beef between them two and it was just a personal choice for what was best for his career.

This is so brave! We wish him all the best luck.
