Fans were pretty ecstatic when Kendall Jenner seemingly created her very own TikTok account on Tuesday, February 4. But when it disappeared after only one day, everyone was left pretty confused. Well guys, J-14 decided to investigate, and we uncovered the real reason the model seemingly deleted her account after less than 24 hours!
With the username @KendallJenner, it appeared that the 24-year-old posted two videos in the time that the account was active. The first was a clip of the reality star looking into the mirror while fixing her hair, as King Staccz’s “Pretty Face” played in the background. The second was a slow-motion clip of Kendall dancing behind a curtain to the song “Safe Zone” by Lonr. The videos boasted almost one million likes in just hours, and the account quickly gained more than half a million followers and a blue verified check mark.
So why was the profile taken down? Well, it turns out that it wasn’t actually created by the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star after all, and an imposter was behind the account all along! TikTok told Business Insider that they removed the account after “an internal review” revealed that it wasn’t legitimate.
“Within hours of verifying an account claiming to be Kendall Jenner, an internal review raised questions about the account’s authenticity, and TikTok immediately removed it as a precaution,” the company said in a statement.
It turns out, both of the videos that the mysterious imposter had shared on TikTok weren’t new at all, and they were in fact videos that Kendall had previously posted on her Instagram Stories. The first one appeared on her social media in October 2019, while the second one was shared in June 2019.
According to TikTok’s website, the app awards verification checkmarks only after it has confirmed that “the account belongs to the user it represents,” so it’s unclear how the fake account got verified. But hopefully Kendall makes a real TikTok account soon!
