Ever since Noah Centineo stole hearts as the swoonworthy, most perfect fictional boyfriend ever Peter Kavinsky in To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, he’s basically become the Internet’s new obsession. And everyone wants to get the deets on his actual love life. As we know, Noah is currently single, but there’s one type of person he doesn’t ever see becoming his next girlfriend and that’s a fan. We know, it’s a bit soul crushing to hear, but the actor explains where he’s coming from in a way that makes total sense.
When Noah was asked by E!’s Daily Pop if he’s been checking his DMs since we know he must be getting flooded with messages lately, he quickly said, “I don’t check my DMs,” so not an ideal to get his attention. That was immediately followed up with the burning question we’ve all wanted to ask him – if he would ever date a fan.
“Probably not. I mean, I don’t close any door totally, but probably not. Just because then it’s more of an infatuation with a position more than the person and you can overshadow that, which is difficult I would think,” he said.
Okay, so yeah, a bit of a bummer for his millions of fans to know he might not really be into the idea of dating them, but all for good reason. He just wants someone to love him for who he really is and that’s just making our hearts flutter all over again. So what kind of girl does catch his eye? Speaking to E!’s Erin Lim, Noah explained “someone who takes care of themselves and someone who’s honest, those are really two big things for me” when it comes to finding his leading lady. He’s all about getting to know someone IRL more than just texting and messaging all the time too, unlike his character Jamey in the upcoming Netflix movie, Sierra Burgess Is a Loser who falls for Sierra through only talking on the phone. And since he thinks she’s someone else, well that just creates a whole bigger issue! As for Noah, he’s all about getting that face-to-face time with the person he’s interested in.
“Phone call, FaceTime, but more so in real life,” Noah said. “I would much rather meet someone randomly, whether that’s me out doing something that I love to do, because if you’re out doing something you love to do and you meet someone doing what they love to do, and you’re doing the things you love to do at the same place, odds are you like the same things and you have more similiar interests and more to talk about.”
Even when he’s not trying, he’s out here stealing hearts left and right, isn’t he? A true gem.
