Fans of the original The Diary of a Wimpy Kid movies are not at all happy with the remake's new cast, but it looks like one of the original actors approves of the actors and has even passed on the torch to the actor who has taken over his role.

Zachary Gordon sent a message to fans saying just how special his time on the films was and just how excited he is to see the new actors take on the new version titled The Long Haul. In a video posted on the official Twitter account for the movie, he sent out a sweet message passing on the torch for Jason Drucker, who will be starring as Greg Heffley.

"Congratulations on the new Wimpy Kid film. Some of my fondest memories were making those memories. Although I am not the Wimpy Kid anymore, I'm glad to see that the new cast is experiencing some of the great times that I did while making the previous films," he said.

"Wishing you the best of luck and I look forward to seeing you in the long haul," he continued.

Aww! At least he approves. When the new cast was revealed in the trailer, fans started protesting the movie with the hashtags #notmyrodrick and #NOTMYHEFFLEYS and tweeting out a bunch of jokes and images comparing the new cast to the old actors.

The Wimpy Kid movies were such a huge part of a lot of people's childhoods, that wanting to remake it with a new cast was bound to face a ton of criticism. It is difficult to recreate the same magic of the original films but the new actors seem super excited to have taken on the new roles.

Since the OG Greg gave them his two thumbs up, perhaps fans will now be a bit more open-minded about accepting the new kids, even if they are super different than the ones they grew to love over the years.

We also wish the cast all the best with their new movie and cannot wait to see how it all turns out in the end.
