The way they were. Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid called it quits in October 2021 following an incident which involved the model’s mom, Yolanda Hadid.
Us Weekly confirmed the breakup, with a source telling the publication: “Zayn and Gigi have silently separated.”
The former One Direction member and model have experienced some major ups and downs since they first got together. In September 2020, they even welcomed a daughter, named Khai.
The couple announced the arrival of their “healthy & beautiful” baby girl via social media. “To try put into words how I am feeling right now would be an impossible task,” Zayn wrote on Twitter. “The love I feel for this tiny human is beyond my understanding. Grateful to know her, proud to call her mine & thankful for the life we will have together x.”
Gigi also shared the exciting news to Instagram and told followers that the newborn had “already changed our world.” The former Victoria’s Secret model first confirmed that she and long-term boyfriend Zayn had a baby on the way in April 2020 after rumors started to circulate that she was pregnant.
“Obviously, we wish we could’ve announced it on our own terms, but we’re very excited and happy and grateful for everyone’s well wishes and support,” she said during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon at the time.
When it came to reflecting on her parenting skills, Zayn called Gigi a “wicked mom” during an interview with the Valentine in the Morning radio show in March 2021. “Obviously, she’s really a big help with everything, and she’s doing well,” he gushed at the time.
Khai’s birth came months after Gigi and Zayn reconciled in January 2020, one year after their 2019 split. The “Pillowtalk” singer first started dating Gigi in 2015 and they were together for three years until calling it quits in March 2018. They rekindled their romance shortly after and broke up for a second time in January 2019. The couple has kept their relationship out of the public eye, only sharing a few PDA-filled snaps and flirty comments on social media.
“For the first time, we are both in a relationship where we have similar interests outside of work, and that is really important,” Gigi gushed to ES Magazine in September 2016 about their relationship. “We cook a lot together and do art together, and we’re really each other’s best friends. We both feel we can talk about anything and learn a lot from each other.”
