Fans are seriously wishing the best for Cher Lloyd. On Wednesday, May 6, the songstress took to Twitter and explained why she had been absent on social media, by revealing to fans that her dad has been hospitalized and is “seriously unwell.”

“Hi everyone, I’m sorry I’ve been quiet on here — I find it difficult to share my personal life at the best of times, but I feel I need to let you know what’s going on,” the 26-year-old wrote in a heartfelt post. “My dad has been seriously unwell and is in hospital. This has been really difficult on us and my head’s all over the place. I wish I could see him, and I wish I could be with my family to support them, especially mum. We can’t be with dad but I’m so grateful to the doctors and nurses for looking after him. This is such a scary time for everyone, I hope you are keeping safe.”

She continued, “While I take a bit of time to focus on my family over this difficult period, my team will be taking over key posts for me so we can keep you updated on all things ‘Lost.'”

Naturally, the former The X Factor contestant’s 6.9 million followers were quick to send positive messages to her and her family.

“I’m so sorry that you and your family are going through this. I’m keeping you all in my thoughts and sending so much love. Love you so much,” one fan wrote. Another added, “Keeping you, dad and the rest of your family in my thoughts. We love you!”

For those who don’t know Cher first rose to fame back in 2010 after appearing on the British singing competition show, The X Factor alongside One Direction. At the time, the brunette beauty was 16 and came in fourth place. Shortly after her stint on the show, Cher signed with Simon Cowell‘s record label, Syco, and released her debut album Sticks and Stones in 2011. Before her brief hiatus, starting in 2014, she released another album, headlined two tours and even collaborated on the song “Really Don’t Care” with Demi Lovato. In October 2019, Cher made her return to music with a brand new single called “M.I.A.”
