Former X Factor contestant Cher Lloyd recently revealed that, to boost her current comeback, music managers seemingly wanted her to enter a fake relationship.

“They gave me a few suggestions but it was just a crazy thing to ask,” the 26-year-old claimed during an interview with UK’s The Sun. “Sadly it still happens. That’s still happening in this day and age — that it’s still OK to try to make a young girl do something like that to boost a career.”

The singer admitted that she turned down the offer and told the publication that she “was never going to be that girl.”

“I write music, I release music and I don’t have the hidden agendas,” Cher explained. “It’s not my thing to do a publicity stunt, it’s messy, I’m not interested. Plus, I was married.”

As fans know, the “Want U Back” songstress married hairdresser Craig Monk back in 2013 and in 2018, they welcomed their first child together, a little girl named Delilah-Rae.

“I’ve been married for nearly seven years and I love him,” she gushed. “OK yeah, he is a normal guy, whatever you want to call normal, but you can’t help who you fall for. I’m sorry to big music heads that I didn’t marry a very successful celebrity to make money for them.”

For those who don’t know Cher first rose to fame back in 2010 after appearing on the British singing competition show, The X Factor alongside One Direction. At the time, the brunette beauty was 16 and came in fourth place. Shortly after her stint on the show, Cher signed with Simon Cowell‘s record label, Syco, and released her debut album Sticks and Stones in 2011. Before her brief hiatus, starting in 2014, she released another album, headlined two tours and even collaborated on the song “Really Don’t Care” with Demi Lovato. Now, Cher is back and better than ever with a newly released single, called “Lost.”
