It looks like Shailene Woodley is not so fond of the TV show that gave her her start! Yep, the actress just opened up about her time in The Secret Life of the American Teenager, and she admitted that looking back, there are a lot of things she disagrees with about the series.

“When I signed onto Secret Life, I read [three] episodes and I signed a contract for six years. [Those episodes] all hit home. I had friends in high school who were pregnant. It felt like everything that I wanted to be sending into the world,” she explained to Bustle during a recent interview.

But as the show progressed and it started to dive into other topics, Shailene was not a fan.

“There were a lot of things that were written into the scripts that not just me, but a lot of the cast, disagreed with,” the 28-year-old continued. “There were belief systems that were pushed that were different than my own. Yet legally I was stuck there. To this day it’s one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. So being on Secret Life propelled me to be more vocal about my own belief systems.”

For those who forgot, the ABC show first premiered in July 2008. It went on for five epic seasons before it concluded in June 2013, and viewers were pretty sad to see it go. Besides Shailene, it also starred Ken BaumannDaren KagasoffGreg Finley, Francia RaisaMegan Park and more. The series was about a girl named Amy Juergens who found out she was pregnant after a fling at band camp, and it quickly became a fan favorite, so there’s not a day that goes by that viewers don’t miss it, TBH.

After Secret Life, Shailene went on to star in the Divergent series, The Fault in Our Stars, Big Little Lies, The Spectacular Now, The Descendants and more.
