Austin Mahone's father passed away when he was just a kid, and because he didn't have any siblings, he says he became incredibly close with his mom. In a recent interview, the singer opened up about losing his dad and how he was able to get through everything with the help of his mom.

"People are like, 'Is it weird that you don't have a dad?' No," he said. "That's just how I grew up, and that's what's normal for me. I can't imagine having a dad. I can't be like, 'Hey, Dad! Want to go play catch in the yard?' That would be weird for me to say."

"[My mom] wanted a father figure in my life, but that didn't work out."

Austin even said that if it wasn't for his mom, he wouldn't be doing what he loves. After all, she quit her job to homeschool the singer and help him make his dream come true.

"It is probably the coolest thing a parent could do—to have hope and faith in what I'm doing," he said. "I felt a lot of pressure on me and was like, OK, I definitely have to go hard now. I've gotta be the man of the house and make the money and provide for my family."

We can't believe how much heartbreak Austin and his mother have been through! We're so happy that their bond is so unbreakable and that they're both so appreciative of each other.
