After months of speculation, the Girl Meets World writers confirmed the news earlier this week that Disney Channel was pulling the plug on the show. Fans expressed their heartbreak on social media following the news, and the cast and members of the crew also opened up about what the cancellation meant to them.

Everyone was awaiting **Corey Fogelmanis' reaction, and the young actor finally shared a post on Instagram of him and his friends from the show with a caption that was a message directed at both the show's creators and the fans.

“To all of our fans, friends, cast, and crew that have created and gone on this journey with us, we are forever grateful,” he wrote on Instagram.

“I can’t thank you guys enough for the love & support you have given us as you watched us grow up on screen. These past years have given me experiences that I will never lose and a platform to grow not only as an artist but also as a human being. I can’t wait for the next chapter.”

The great thing about this is that the cast has made life long friendships because of the series, as Corey spent New Year's Eve alongside cast member Sabrina Carpenter so we are sure they will remain close no matter what. He shared a beautiful photo of them together saying: "oh goody."

Ava Kolker, who played Auggie Matthews' girlfriend on the show, also opened up via her parents to Just Jared saying: "Ava is beyond grateful to Girl Meets World creator Michael Jacobs and the brilliant writers for creating a magical world for her to live her dream as Ava Morgenstern. Thank you to all of the fans who tweet, stop to say hello while out and about and welcoming Ava into your homes every week.”

“She has enjoyed being a part of your families, and most importantly being able to bring smiles to the faces of so many GMW fans. Ava is proud to have worked with such incredibly talented individuals, Rowan, August, Sabrina, Ben, Danielle, Peyton and Corey. Thank you to Disney Channel and the crew for creating a warm and safe space for Ava to do what she loves. She will truly treasure every moment!”

“Girl Meets World will leave this generation a better place and will continue to have a positive impact on our lives for years to come. We are forever bonded as GMW family.”

The fans have even started a petition on the website Change.org so that Netflix picks up the series, and it honestly does not sound like a bad idea.

We wish these young actors the best, and we are sure they will be just fine since they are so talented and full of dreams.
