J-14 recently sat down with Maggie Castle and Danielle Campbell, two of the stars of the new Disney Channel original movie, StarStruck, to dish about their new movie and what it was like working with their cute co-star, Sonny WIth a Chance's Sterling Knight! StarStruck premieres this Sunday, February 14 on Disney at 8 pm!
J-14: Tell us about StarStruck.
Danielle Campbell: Well the story follows my character, Jessica Olsen. She's a really down to earth, western girl, and she is literally colliding with Hollywood's teen heartthrob, pop star sensation Christopher Wilde, played by Sterling. Unlike her sister, Sara (Maggie Castle), Jessica is completely unimpressed with celebrities and fame and Christopher and Jessica end up going on this adventure through Southern California and they end up forming a very unlikely friendship and then their bond though is tested when Jessica goes home and Christopher publicly denies their friendship.
J-14: What's your character Sara like?
Maggie Castle: Oh Sara, she is a nut job. I wanted to make her more likeable so I kind of made her a bit wacky and stuff. She is wacky because it's her whole life's purpose is to meet this Christopher Wilde and she basically goes to almost any lengths in order to do that. So you've got to be missing a bit of a screw there.
J-14: What was the dynamic like between you guys and Sterling?
Maggie: Awful! No, we had a blast. Danielle is like a little sister to me. We had lots of fun always shooting our family scenes. Actually I didn't get to work that much with Sterling because I'm always like, in pursuit of him. We're never really in that many scenes together but you know, always great to see him on set. We had a blast. Everyone was really chill and got along great. Nobody's got a superior, diva attitude, which is always nice. No divas allowed.
Danielle: Sterling is so much fun to work with. He's hilarious -- we play off each other really well. Our chemistry was great and he is such a fun guy to hang out with. We had a lot of fun.
J-14: What was your favorite scene to film?
Danielle: My favorite scene to film was on Sunset Boulevard. They actually closed down the street for us so that -- I hear that doesn't happen often. It was really cool. We actually got to film in this cherry red Ferrari. It was gorgeous. It goes 215 mph and Sterling and I were both sitting in the car, our jaws were dropped, and we were speechless. It was amazing.
Maggie: There's so many, I mean, I don't want to give away too much of the plot, but there's one scene where I get to kind of rock out a bit, and do some of my dancing skills.
