Unnatural History's Italia Ricci stopped by the J-14 office recently, and she told us all about her character Maggie Winnock, working with Kevin Schmidt, and what it's like hanging with Kevin's bro, Big Time Rush's Kendall Schmidt.
J-14: Can you tell us about your character Maggie?
Italia Ricci: Maggie is the smartest girl in her school, which is attached to the Smithsonian Museum in Washington. She has a photographic memory so she can pretty much retain anything she sees and reads. It's exhausting! She speaks so many languages and comes from a family in the Air Force, but her mom's still kind of a mystery. She is pretty honest about who she surrounds herself with -- she's never fake and I really dig that.
J-14: If you could have a talent like hers, what would you want it to be?
Italia: I wish I could speak a ton of languages. I got the Rosetta Stone [a language-learning program]. It was more because Italian was my first language and then I lost it when I started going to an English-speaking school [outside of Toronto], so I wanted to pick it back up and surprise my grandparents at Christmas -- but I really haven't done it!
J-14: What's one of your best memories from the show?
Italia: We always goof around because the days are long and we try to keep it fun. Kevin [Schmidt] knows that I hate being startled -- I break down and cry! So he stood outside the studio door when I was leaving to go to my trailer, and he was like, "Bah!" It was a little scream and not terrifying at all, but I just lost it. I tried to get him back but it was the worst scare ever -- I scared myself. He teased me about it for quite some time.
J-14: Are you close with Kevin and his brother, Big Time Rush's Kendall?
Italia: Yes. Kendall and I have the same kind of chemistry as Kevin and I do, which is a teasing brother and sister kind of thing -- maybe because they don't have a sister. Their family is wonderful.
J-14: Who is your celeb crush?
Italia: It changes daily. Now it's Ryan Reynolds, but Zac Efron is cute too!
