Ed Sheeran has been an open book lately and fans are totally loving it!

The "Shape of You" singer chatted with E! News on the 2017 iHeartRadio Music Awards red carpet and dropped a major bombshell about some of his new music. He confirmed that a collaboration with his bestie Taylor Swift is definitely going to happen. Of course, these two have worked together before, but considering the fact that T. Swift hasn't put out her own music since 2014, this is exciting AF.

Obviously, she dropped her collaboration project with Zayn Malik in December, but it was all the way back in October of 2014 that she gifted her fans with 1989.

While Ed didn't give a clear answer about when this duet was going to be released, we have a feeling it could be sometime this year.

When the British crooner was pressed for an answer about the collab, he said, "Certainly in our lifetime." LOL! Okay, so he's being really sneaky about it all, which isn't that shocking. Taylor is known to be very private when it comes to her music. Letting the fans in on her plans is not something she takes lightly, so it's possible that Ed could be tight-lipped respecting her wishes. If the collaboration really is underway, however.

This isn't the first time Ed has opened up about Taylor's new music. He previously chatted with BBC News and said, "Taylor [Swift] isn't going to be releasing until probably the end of this year — Christmas is the smartest time to release because that's when everyone buys records. So I've got a full year of just all Ed, all the time."

To be honest, if 2017 was the year of Ed and Taylor, it would be pretty darn amazing. Our fingers are crossed that Ed was telling the truth and wasn't just giving the world a false sense of hope.
