It’s been 20 years since Even Stevens first premiered on Disney Channel and, boy, do we feel old! But don’t worry, guy, because the cast is still super close after all these years. That’s right, on Wednesday, June 17, Christy Carlson Romano, Nick Spano, Steven Anthony Lawrence, AJ Trauth, Tom Virtue, Lauren Frost, George Anthony Bell and some major crew members teamed up for a virtual reunion, and it seriously brought on the nostalgia!

During the livestream, the cast revealed that, unfortunately, Shia LaBeouf, Donna Pescow and Margo Harshman were unavailable for the Zoom call. Despite the missing cast members, everyone who took part had two hours worth of fun planned for the viewers at home. Get this — the stars even spilled some juicy behind-the-scenes secrets from the show, and we’re totally freaking out! Shia LaBeouf told everyone he was playing Louis before booking the role

Although he wasn’t present during the reunion, the cast still reminisced about their time with Shia. And according to AJ, he went up to all the kids at the audition and introduced himself saying, “Hi, I’m Shia and I’m playing Louis Stevens.” Get this, the actor didn’t even have the role yet!

Going off AJ’s story, one of the executive producers, David Brookwell, added, “We had to pull him aside and say ‘Dude, what are you doing?’ and he was like ‘I’ve got the part, don’t I?'”

Beans was an icon before he was even cast

According to the shows’s executive producers, Steven — who fans know as Beans — auditioned with little to no acting experience, but it was his pirate joke that sealed the deal. Dennis said that after they watched his audition, they had plans to use the joke — which Beans never finished in the show — and knew the actor “came with the joke.”

So much chili was used in the show’s iconic scene

Diehard Even Stevens fans will remember the show’s classic chili scene that took place in the episode titled, “Scrub Day.” Well, according to executive producer Dennis Rinsler, they used 200 cans of chili to fill the vat. Yikes!

But that’s not all! AJ remembered the cast wrapping themselves in Saran Wrap and wearing diapers before climbing in.

“I think that working in show business as long as I had…there was nothing but a great sense of community and family on Even Stevens, and we actually all cared about each other,” Nick said. Steven added, “Our set really was such a solitude, and a home for so many people, cast and crew. We all took such a huge refuge in coming to work, because it wasn’t work, it was coming to see our family.”
