On Saturday, December 14, Joshua Rush turned 18 years old and celebrated in a major way — with a college acceptance letter! Fans first fell in love with the young star after his revolutionary portrayal of Cyrus Goodman in the Disney Channel series Andi Mack. Now, it looks like Joshua is taking a break from acting and going on to bigger and better things.

The actor took to Twitter on Thursday, December 12, and shared a screenshot of an official letter from New York University accepting him into the Gallatin School Of Individualized Studies. Over the weekend, Joshua shared his decision to attend the university for the next four years with a selfie posted to Instagram. In the photo, the recently 18-year-old is representing his choice of college by sporting a NYU sweatshirt.

“Got the merch to make it official!” he captioned the picture. “I’m going to [New York University]!”

As fans know, Joshua’s college acceptance came just after he opened up to Teen Vogue about his recent internship with two congressmen and possibly quitting acting for a career in politics.

“I don’t have an answer to it, honestly,” he said, when asked which job he preferred. “I love them both, and I love the career that I’ve built for myself in L.A., and I also love what I’m building for myself right now in D.C. I don’t know where the future takes me, but I do want to study in college and learn everything that I can.”

That’s not all! He also celebrated his big day becoming a legal adult by getting a tattoo. He posted an adorable selfie on Twitter just after getting inked and even explained the meaningful design to fans.

“This is the tattoo design we settled on, the word means “life” and the arrow symbolizes that one small act of creation can bring all of life upward,” he wrote. “It’s a little creative/spiritual/religious mantra for me and my dad.”
