We can all agree that Taylor Swift and Katy Perry‘s feud may go down in history as one of the longest and messiest celebrity fights of all time. But finally, after six years of drama it appears that everything is finally all good between the ladies! Not only have they made up, but the “Roar” songstress just revealed she wants to collab with her former nemesis! OMG.
While walking on the red carpet at the 2019 iHeartRadio Music Awards on Thursday, March 14, the 34-year-old singer was asked if she’d ever be down to make a song with the “Look What You Made Me Do” singer.
“I mean, I’m making music with Zedd, [so] I’m open,” she told Entertainment Tonight.
Wow, can you imagine how epic that song would be? In case you forgot, things first turned ugly between Taylor and Katy after Tay accused the brunette beauty of stealing her backup dancers from her tour in 2013. It also didn’t help that they both dated the same guy, John Mayer. And things got really messy when the 29-year-old wrote a song about Katy, called “Bad Blood,” where she sings all about a relationship that turned sour. Yikes!
And that’s not all because the ladies have thrown a lot more shade toward each other over the years. Like the time that Taylor added all of her music to Spotify on the same day Katy released her album, which totally messed with her chart position, for example. Coincidence? We think not! What about the time Katy named her perfume “Mad Love,” which is a line from Taylor’s song. Or when Taylor did her makeup and hair exactly like the “California Girls” singer in her music video for “Look What You Made Me Do.” Yeah, it’s definitely been messy.
But in Katy’s “Thrive” podcast, she addressed the feud once and for all, admitting she was over it.
“I am ready to let it go,” she said . “I forgive her and I’m sorry for anything I ever did, and I hope the same from her. I think it’s actually like, I think it’s time. There are bigger fish to fry, and there are real problems in the world. You know what I’m saying? And I love her, and I want the best for her. And I think she’s a fantastic songwriter, and I think that, you know, if we, both her and I, can be representatives of strong women that come together despite their differences, I think the whole world is going to go like, ‘Yeah, well we can do this.’ I don’t know. Like maybe I don’t agree with everything she does and she doesn’t agree with everything I do, but I just really truly want to come together in a place of love and forgiveness and understanding and compassion. There’s a lot of other things out there in the world that people need to be focused on, and I truly, like, God bless her on her journey. God bless her.”
And on May 8, 2018, it seemed like the long and messy feud had officially come to an end when Katy sent Taylor a literal olive branch, which we all know is a symbol for peace. Taylor shared a snap of the gift to her Instagram Stories, along with a note from Katy that read, “Hello old friend, I’ve been doing some reflecting on past misunderstandings and hurt feelings between us. I want to clear the air…”
The letter gets cut off so we unfortunately can’t see the rest of her message, but we’re so proud of Katy for being the bigger person! You go girl!
Since both Katy and Taylor are two of our favorite artists ever, we seriously need this collab to happen, like, ASAP.
