When it was announced that Ross Lynch would be taking on the role of Harvey in Netflix’s upcoming series, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, OG Sabrina the Teenage Witch fans had one question: would he dye his hair? The character of Harvey —Sabrina’s mortal, super sweet boyfriend — has brown hair and Ross always rocked the bleached blond look. Well, he did end up dying his hair and now we have brunette Ross. But as he explained, he didn’t know at first that he would have to switch up his hair color until it became very clear during the audition process that he would then have to change up his ‘do.
“In the audition process, they wanted me to dye my hair for the screen test because I looked quite a bit like Kiernan [Shipka]. And they put this weird spray dye in my hair to try and make us look different because all my auditions were with Kiernan,” Ross said to People Now.
And since the 22-year-old has always rocked his blond locks, he had to get used to seeing himself with the darker hair.
“It is really interesting to change your hair color after being blond your entire life. Every time I looked in the mirror, I’d be like, ‘Whoa.’ It shocks you,” Ross said to Elle. “Because my [hair] was so light, they had to do a copper dye first and then do brunette dye so that it wouldn’t bleed through. I’m pretty much used to it now. I’ll probably go back to blond eventually. But so far I like that Harvey’s brunette.”
So for now, it looks like Harvey’s brown hair is staying Ross’ hair color and we must say, he pulls it off!
