For some, summer vacation is all about lounging by the pool and getting lots of fresh air. But for us fangirls, it's more about holing up with your dad's Netflix account and working on your pallor. Now is the time to catch up on all the summer shows you half-watched during the school year, but there's only one problem…all of our favorites are drying up. Pretty Little Liars closed up with it's unsatisfying reveal, Riverdale won't be back until October, and as for The Vampire Diaries… well, R.I.P. So if your current favorite show wrapped up or is on forever-long hiatus, you may be concerned about what you should watch next.

Well, how about a throwback? Instead of the long-running modern shows that we've kept on our computer screen during those colder months, you can get invested in some retro teen dramas that helped give birth to your favorite new classics. Whether you're sucker for a bloodsucking babe or you love seeing scandalous secrets come to to the surface, there's definitely an alternate teen show (or 20) from yesteryear that'll satiate your cravings.

And hey, in case you're worried about where to watch it (because some of these pre-date the CW becoming the CW), we've got you covered on just how and where you can stream each show.

So let's go back to school… uh, not literally. Scroll down to see what retro teen shows you should watch next based on your current faves!

If you like Riverdale, you'll like Veronica Mars.

river mars

Why? Both series kick off with a major murder mystery that shows the corrupted underbelly of a town, and they're narrated by a sarcastic loner (although Jughead reads more sardonic and Veronica is the queen of snark). In truth, Riverdale is more accurately like what would happen if VM had a baby with Dawson's Creek and raised it in Twin Peaks, but we're just getting nit-picky.

This is a great place to get your fix of bloodshed, intrigue, and epic shippable couples.

If you like The Vampire Diaries, you'll like Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

teen vamp

Why? Well, if you bought into The Vampire Diaries through all eight seasons, you definitely don't have commitment issues, and you probably have a penchant for undead men. No judgement, us too. Buffy is richer than your traditional supernatural teen show, v girl power centric and pretty woke for something that came out in the '90s.

The first short season is hilariously wonky, but we know that you're a fighter, and trust us, you'll be rewarded with not one, but two hot vampires (and some milquetoast loser named Riley in the middle). Trust us, it's really something to sink your fangs into.

If you like Degrassi: Next Class, then you'll like Skins.

deg skins

Why? The obvious pick when it comes to Degrassi: Next Class would be Degrassi: The Next Generation which tbh you've definitely seen by now. That's where they made Drake! So can we offer you this United Kingdom alternative? Skins is refreshingly raw, and the kids at Roundview College make the students of Degrassi High look like saints. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll rave.

If you like 13 Reasons Why, you'll like My So-Called Life.

hannah angela

Why? Let's be clear, 15-year-old Angela Chase is no Hannah Baker. She's lost and trying to figure things out for herself, but her worst impulse decision is dying her hair a shade of crimson glow. There are other shows in which you can capture the sort of gorier, tragic, mystery-obsessed side of 13 Reasons Why, but My So-Called Life feels like a good follow-up regardless. Angela's narration is gentler and certainly a bit more innocent in tone (which maybe you need), but the show still never sugarcoated the unpleasant realities of being a teenager, ground-breaking at the time.

And if you're still not sure about something from 20+ years ago, rest assured that it's only 19 episodes long.

If you like Pretty Little Liars, then you'll like Gossip Girl.

gg pll

Why? Technically Gossip Girl was on the air at the same time as Pretty Little Liars, for a few stray years, so you may have caught some of B and S's biggest scandals. If you haven't however, watched this show about Manhattan's elite, the time is now. While suspicious deaths are only a sometimes thing for the Non-Judging Breakfast Club, you get plenty of charming text threats from an omnipotent character, and so many Pinterest-worthy style moments it'll make your head spin.

We're not sure if Blair Waldorf could bring the headband back in 2017, but it's almost impossible to get through the first two seasons without worshiping at the altar of Queen B.
